Goldwell
"Closer to stylists. Closer to hair."
The early years
1948
The company was established in Germany by a 27-year old business man by the name of Hans Erich Dotter. It all began with the idea of a lotion which enabled people to give lasting shape to their hairstyle, the GOLDWELL-IDEAL cold wave.
The objective of the company was to offer the hairdresser a quality product range for exclusive salon use. Success was first to be achieved by extremely high quality products and a commitment to remain a 100% salon professional brand.
The evolution to color perfection
1978

|
Goldwell becomes the visionary leader in professional haircolor with the introduction of the first depot system for haircolor. Topchic permanent color, known for providing maximum grey coverage, the longest lasting reds and clear-beige blondes is offered in both the depot canister and tubes. |
1986
The Complete Color System is born
Colorance acid color, the first acidic color to contain oxidative pigments that develop in a non-alkaline environment available in shades that are aligned with Topchic permanent color.
Color Balancing
Stylists now have the ability to provide long lasting color results by only touching the hair with a permanent color once. Simply apply Topchic permanent color to your client retouch and freshen the mid-to-ends with Colorance demi color.
1990
The philosophy and the principles of the company have remained unchanged. Goldwell's integration into the Kao Corporation opened up new prospects and opportunities for a secure future. A modern research and development centre was built, and over 100 new jobs were created for scientists.
Today Goldwell products are available exclusively to hairdressers in more than 30 countries. Goldwell products enjoy huge recognition by hairdressing professionals and obtain high levels of satisfaction from their salon clients.
2004
In 2004, the company cemented its reputation for fashion-forward expertise with Trend Zoom, a platform based on in-depth analysis that identifies emerging hairstyle and color trends and then shares the inspiration with stylists.
